Cinema - General Plot
Beginning in 1980s San Francisco, the vampire, Louis de Pointe du Lac, tells his life story to a boy
reporter. His life began as a Louisianian plantation owner in the year 1766. Mourning the loss of both his beloved wife and child,
Louis gives up on life. Frequenting bars and prostitutes, he drinks and gambles in hopes that someone would end his life for him. But it
was the vampire, Lestat de Lioncourt, that intervenes and offers him the dark gift in which Louis accepts.
But the dark gift isn't all that Louis wished for. Repulsed by the thought of killing mortals in order for him to survive, he chooses
to live off of animal blood instead. And from this, it leads to his disdain of Lestat, who tries to force Louis to see his true nature...that
they are killers.
And on one fateful night, when Lestat gleefully feeds on two prostitutes in a game of cat and mouse, Louis furiously leaves, vowing to never
return again. But only to meet a beautiful little girl who begs Louis to help her mother who is dead from the plague. Caving in to his vampiric thirst,
he feeds on the girl only to be interrupted by Lestat who mocks him. Running away, Lestat chases after him to inform him that the girl did not die. Louis
follows Lestat back where Lestat then transforms the little girl into a child vampire, Claudia. And together they lived for 60 years, a vampiric family.
But gradually Claudia matures into the mind of an intelligent young woman, forever furiously trapped in a child's body. Her frustration leads to questions
about her existence. Her beginning. And her hatred for Lestat, the one she blames for her predicament. She plots for Louis and her to leave Lestat, to goto
Europe and find others of their kind. In one gruesome act, she poisons Lestat and slits his throat.
In Europe, they found no vampires like them. Until they come to Paris, where they meet Armand and the Theater of the Vampires. Louis is awestruck by Armand
and the knowledge he possesses. Fallen for him, Louis decides to go away with him but cannot tear himself away from Claudia. Claudia knows this and demands
that Louis make her a mother, so she will be taken care of. That mother is Madeleine.
But upon giving her the dark gift, the vampires of the Theater of the
Vampires led by Santiago, capture Louis, Claudia and Madeleine and put them on trial for the murder of Lestat de Lioncourt. Locking Louis in a coffin, Claudia
and Madeleine are put to their death by exposure to the sun. Armand returns later to free Louis who sees Claudia's ashes. In a state of revenge, Louis destroys
the Theater of the Vampires, killing the entire coven. Armand and Louis then part at The Lourve for Louis never wants to see Armand again for he caused Claudia's
death.
A century later, Louis returns to New Orleans where he finds Lestat again. Lestat, weak, insane and cannot cope with modern life, begs Louis to remain. But Louis
leaves him, never to see him again.
The movie ends with Louis finishing his tale and the awe struck boy reporter begging him to continue or make him a vampire as well. In a fit of anger, Louis
grabs the boy's neck, tosses him down and leaves. The boy grabs his tapes, jumps into his car and begins to play the recordings. Suddenly, the boy is grabbed from
behind and fed off of by Lestat who then takes over the driving. He pops out the tape and pops in Sympathy For The Devil and continue to drive away.
